📚 School Choice Options

Beyond our neighborhood schools, HCPS offers several choice program categories:

  • Magnet & Attractor Programs: These specialty tracks—such as IB, STEM, performing arts, foreign languages—are open subject to space. Applications require certain academic proficiencies (hillsboroughschools.org).

  • Career & Technical Education (CTE): Hands-on programs preparing students for industries and career pathways ().

  • Collegiate Academies: High school programs with college-credit opportunities.

  • Choice Hardship: Transfer options for documented family hardships; requires parent application and does not provide transportation (hillsboroughschools.org).

  • General Choice Schools: Apply to other schools with availability; you must provide your own transportation ().

🗓 Application Window

The 2025‑26 School Choice and Magnet Application opens July 7 at 6 p.m. and closes July 13 at 11:59 p.m. (hillsboroughschools.org). You can sign up via the HCPS website to receive alerts/reminders (hillsboroughschools.org).

To explore vacancy availability for your child’s grade, enter your address and grade level into HCPS’s “Explore Your Options” tool (community.sdhc.k12.fl.us).
